3 Reasons Why Generosity Creates Wealth - Part 1
Yesterday I am talking to one of my friends in the office who planning to start a business. He talked about one of the principal of business about creating product. We have to sell the value to customer not product. Every successful business creating certain values to their customers through the their image and identity.
I know we all know about the history of BodyShop Cosmetic. Body Shop Cosmetic founded by Anita Roddick, had a vision of retailing home-made naturally inspired products with minimal packaging and wanted others to share it. Her contribution to the environment is what make her business growth in different ways, not just profit motivated. This is one of the example of giving values with sincere heart can attract money along the way.
But its not only apply in business, even in life when we are giving more, we will get more in return. But when you are offering values, do not expect something in return. Its not necessarily you will get it from the same people, but somehow you will get it. Just belief that the sincerity of your acts of kindness will make you good. When you feel good, the good things will happen in your life.
Reason 1 : We All Have Customer In Our Life
As a business, everyone knows that our customers are people who pay for our products or services. But what if you are an employee? who is your customer?
As an employee, your customer is people who dealing with you. Your co-workers, your boss - their are your customer.
As husband and father - family is your customer. You have to treat and give values to your wife and son. Same goes if your are wife or mother.
Now, I think you already know who is your customer. They are people around you who give get the direct impact of your action. If you can give values and satisfy your customer, you will get rewards as good as the values that you give to them.
I want to share a story about the hotel’s worker and an old man. I did not remember where I read about it but I still remember the story line. If you think you know the original story, just drop your version by drop us a comment.
One day during the heavy rain and cold night, an old man and her wife stop at small hotel. They were welcomed by the hotel’s worker who invited them to stay there for that night. Although the hotel was fully occupied, he was offering his room for the old couple. His hospitality touched the heart of the old man. After few months, the worker receives letter from the old man invited him to go to London or New York (I am not sure…) and inherited him with a big hotel. I will find the story again and until then, you are invited to give your version of the story.
This motivational story is how simple act of generosity and hospitality rewards him without him expecting anything. What I learned from this story :-
1) give values to everyone around you sincerely.
2) Although that hotel not belong to him, he is only an employee, but he offer the best services to any customer.
3) As a good human, he was offering a shelter (even its his own room) with the warm bed for the old couple during the rainy night. Maybe its look decent thing to do, but to the old man its really means a lot because they are no other place they can go.
