‘NLP for Teachers’ is a one-day course developed by Roger Terry and Richard Churches and the purposed of the course is to trains teachers to harness their emotional intelligence to communicate better, reduce disruption and get the best out of all their students. In their book, ‘NLP for Teachers’ they shared with us the top 10th techniques that useful to control class and make students more focus.

1) Anchoring helps teachers take control of their own emotions and this helps them deal with difficult situations in the classroom.
2. Use perceptual positions for dealing with bullying. The technique involves taking the bully through the three perceptual positions, using different areas of the room to take a bully through the first position, what it’s like to be them; and the second position – what it’s like to be the victim. Thirdly, you take them through what it’s like to be a teacher or another pupil watching the whole process.
3. Develop your rapport skills– when to have it and when not to. Managing difficult pupils and parents.
4. Use ‘Yes sets’ and influential language in the classroom.
5. Know Satir categories
6. Visualise outcomes – how you want the children to be in your classroom, not just what they’re going
to learn.
7. Use well-formed outcomes for lesson planning. At the end of this scheme of work, ask yourself, ‘What
am I going to see, feel and hear the children doing?’
8. Awareness of chunking up and chunking down in questioning. Do you go up to the detail or look at the bigger picture? It’s important to move between the detail and the big picture as well as across categories to encourage higher-order questioning.

Self Motivation Technique By Using Mind Control

Sensory Acuity Is Part Of Your Physiology Change Previous day, the medical explanation have shown how the effect of laughing change your physiology and mind control to promote healing. It show how our simple act of smiling and laughing change our face muscles and promote healing hormones to play its role.

How about we change, not only facial impression, but also our whole physiology or body posture? Its will bring the greatest and powerful effect by changing it into your desired state. Look how the most successful people feel and stay motivated all the times? How we model their physiology to get the same effect? Lets perform this exercise to feel the effect yourself. If you prefer to do it yourself, then get a full length mirror or if you want to watch the effect on other people, get a partner.

1. Stand in front of a full-length mirror looking at yourself or look at your partner.

2. Watch how you/he stand, sit, walk, breathe and gesture.

3. As you watch yourself/him, what first impressions would you form of him like you do not know anything about him?

4. Take a few minutes observing him and make a note

5. Is there anything you/he like to change? How would you/he prefer to be perceived?

6. Make a note of these desirable changes. Lets say you want to be highly motivated as your desired state. Write Highly Motivation as your desired state.

7. Watch yourself/your partner and experiment by deliberately changing physiology.

8. During this process, ask yourself/him these questions, then perform the appropriate movements:

* How would you move if you were extremely motivated? Do it.
* How would you sit if you were extremely motivated? Do it.
* How would you breathe if you were extremely motivated? Do it.
* How would you look if you were extremely motivated? Do it.
* What gestures would you make if you were extremely motivated? Do them.

9. Practice these movements one at a time for few minutes.

10. Notice how it feels to move your body into self-motivation.

11. Notice your frame of mind as you move this way. You will feel the motivation inside your mind and your body also will get the effect.

Remember and practice this exercise when you feel you want to be motivated. Its also applicable to other desired states like self confidence and self esteem which is important for your success. Remember practice make perfect, but you do not need to force yourself. Just do it when you remember and one day you will soon realize its not too hard to make changes and its will be very easy. You too will be someone model in the future. This is only one of the technique used in NLP for changing state. I will explain another technique called Strategy Elicitation later.

How Changing Physiology Reduce Pain

Changing physiology is one of the science that used in NLP to change the state of mind. The term physiology primarily to refer to body posture and movement. Manipulating your physiology will change your biochemistry and thus affects your state of mind. Remember that people always say laughter is the best medicine? Its not only say by average people, but the statements have been proven by science.

Dr Paul Ekman from University of California has claimed that when smiling, the flexing facial muscles produce calming effect on the nervous system, heart rate and respiratory system. With this the amount of oxygen in blood is increased and internally increase healing hormones. When you are laughing or smiling when watching something funny on television or magazine, you ‘forget’ about your pain.

Try this if you still did not convince :
“Try to feel depressed and tired when you are laughing your heart out”
“Try to feel energetic when you slump your shoulder and look down”

This is one of the prove that changing your physiology can bring powerful positive effect to your mind. If changing your facial expression can give healing effect for your body, just imagine what more it can be done to you. Tomorrow, I will share with you how the simple change of physiology to install positive behavior as habit.

Reframing To Get Solution To Your Problem

When dealing with problem, its a good thing to be in positive state. When you are in positive state, you will think clearly and able to find solution for your problem. One of my favorite tool to keep myself always in positive state is by using reframing. Reframing helps you to change from undesired states or behavior for positive intention.  Did you still remember that whatever we perceive in our minds based on how the internal and external representation in our brain.  The reframing technique is so special and powerful although you only use it in verbal communication. I use reframing a lots during my daily conversation and when talking to myself. Its will instantly change on how we deal with the situation and how we react towards its. Its not only useful in solving problems and change undesired behavior, but also important to selling while dealing with customer objection.

There are 3 types of reframing, six steps reframing, context and value reframing. But today I want to share with you the context reframing.

“A context reframe leaves the meaning of a behaviour the same and shows how it could be a useful response in a different context”

The example :“Its so difficult to manage my financial budget when the economy goes down.”

So when people asking or making statements about the negative impact from economy going down, you should think what is the benefit of that situation. The process of think for the positive results from the undesired situation will force your mind to find solution to your problem. Any average people will only think what is the bad impact of economic recession to them. Remember that in NLP, you have to be in cause side, not the effect from the bad situation. Therefore, you might give the people who give the negative statements from the impact of undesired situation of economic down into positive results such as this.

The answer : “Its good that the economy goes down, at least we can learn how to improve our financial management and find ways to get more money”

This is the pattern of thinking for successful people who knows how to take advantages of the undesired situation. These excellent people use context reframing to change from undesired situation like this by generating more creative ideas that average people never think off.

NLP For Quick Change

NLP popular known as tools for quick change. But I always question myself before. Maybe you will ask the same question. How can you solve a problem that we are having for years in just a few hours or maybe in few minutes? Its look like its again nature..

Look at you! You need time to grow from baby to adult, even plants need time to grow before its bear fruits. Everything need time. Even to be successful and accumulate wealth need time. Does NLP really powerful to change our limiting belief or values in just minutes. Is it possible when the belief or values have been installed into your mind for years or even before you was born? Is it possible? I repeatedly ask myself this question over and over again until its force me to find an answer to this question. I ask the question and the answer comes to me almost immediately.

This is the answer :-

NLP provides a map of how to get from where you are now to where you want to be. So you need to walk the path. Its an easy and enjoyable path but only you can walk it. Nobody can do it for you. How fast you walk to get to the destination is up to you. But believe me that you’ve always been able to reach to your destination fast.

Take this as an example. You’ve probably had an experience where, for instance, there was someone you didn’t like for a long time. Anything he/she do will make you irritated. But somehow, one day they said something kind, or you heard about something wonderful they had done and immediately you felt differently about them. Although you’d felt one way for a long time — then in a few moments everything changed.

Its just like an electric light. It takes the same amount of time to turn it on or off no matter how long a lamp has been on. But to do that you just need to know where to find the switch. NLP will lead you to show where is the switch and how to turn the switch on and off. Once you know and long practiced, even in the dark you will find the switch easily and the lamp will turns on or off very fast even without you realizing it. Its wonderful experience, isn’t it?

7 Steps To Financial Abundance

I started to discovered about the important of having the right mindset is from this book, by Adam Khoo ‘The Secrets Of Self-Made Millionaires‘. The first fundamental step is by having wealth mindsets and the principles that have made countless people financially free.

The first step of having the right mindset to get rich and become millionaires is by asking yourself why you are not rich yet. If your answer is on the cause side, not on the effect side then you might be the next millionaire in the making. The effect side represents people who like to be victims. They always blame on other things that make them who they are. That is the same principal for NLP, you should be responsible for what you are. If we keep blaming on other people or the situation (effect)- like now, high living cost - then you could not control over your situation.

If you say you are not rich yet because of you was born in poor family, then you will never change that situation, so how you are going to be rich. Swish Pattern To Stop Smoking

Smokers who really want to stop smoking can use this technique. However, make sure that you have strong reason why you want to stop smoking. Do it because you want the benefits results from the non-smoking habits of the new you. If you do not have strong reason such as because my wife ask me to stop smoking or people don’t like you smoking, then the results might be not as per expectation.

One of the NLP’s tool to change the bad habit is by using Swish Pattern technique. This technique use to re-direct our brain away from the unwanted focus, towards a new wanted directional focus.

Follow this step by step;-

1) Make the representation of what makes you smoke - just before you smoke. Is it because you are hungry, or when you see someone smoking in front of you or is it because you bored? You tell me and make the visual representation of the event.

2) Now think and visualize a new representation of what you want to do instead. When the event happen again in the future, choose what you want to do. Either you want to eat or you want to go for a walk or do you want to drink? Make it as naturally as possible and you are comfortable with your new representation. Make sure that you are dissociated from your new image - which means you are looking at your body doing the activity that you just mentions.

3) Now, replace the old picture with new one. As a start, you might want to put the new image at the corner or center of the old image.Gradually burst, and make the new image brighter, closer and intense and burst to replace the old picture.

4) Repeat step in no. 3 as many times as possible until you could not get the old image.

So, its done and you might want to buy yourself a present since your unconscious mind has successfully replace the old bad habit to the new habit which is beneficial for your health.Now, complete this task - if you have successfully remove your bad habit, just go and buy air purifier for your house. You have to do it - latest by tomorrow!
